Doubt Reflection

The short play Doubt builds on a lot of the theme and central ideas of our school. One thing in particular that I seen throughout the reading was the make use of symbolism. David Patrick Shanley's literary masterpiece unveils big controversy which has surrounded the Catholic Cathedral for many years. Perhaps most obviously in his function is his outstanding make use of symbolism. While defined by the dictionary symbolism is the practice of symbolizing things by using symbols or of that attributed symbolic connotations or value to objects, events, or relationship. Shanley uses this kind of literary gadget to achieve guru suspense throughout the play.

This kind of seems like a very out of place and odd point to be chucked into a work that is therefore short. That is the fault these nails stand for a lot more. He is within the impression that as long as his nails and " clean” no one will ever find out about what he is doing. He actually tells the children that " There was a youngster I had in the past, Timmy Mathisson, never acquired clean fingernails or toenails, and he'd stick his finder up his nasal area, in his oral cavity.
